  • Rahul Bhatia, billionaire co-founder of IndiGo, became interim CEO after the resignation of Pieter Elbers.
  • Bhatia was born in Nainital and graduated from the University of Waterloo, Canada in electrical engineering.
  • He co-founded IndiGo in 2006 with Rakesh Gangwal under InterGlobe Aviation, following a low-cost carrier model.
  • IndiGo captured nearly one-fifth of India's domestic aviation market by 2010 and remains India's largest airline.
  • IndiGo is operated by InterGlobe Aviation Limited and is regulated by the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation).
