  • President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Supreme Court judge Justice Sanjiv Khanna as the Chief Justice of India (CJI) on November 11, 2024.
  • Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ministers of the government, former Chief Justice of India, and present and retired judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts were present at the swearing-in ceremony of the 51st Chief Justice of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
  • Justice Khanna will succeed Justice DY Chandrachud, who retired on Sunday (November 10, 2024) and will have tenure till May 13, 2025.
