International Literacy Day 2022: 08 September

International Literacy Day recognised by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is observed on September 8, every year.
Since 1967, this day has been observed to remind the world about the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity, and human rights and to advance the literacy agenda towards a more literate and sustainable society.
This year's theme is "Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces".
According to the report published by the National Survey of India, the Literacy Rate of India in 2022 is 77.7 per cent. The literacy rate in 2011 was 73%.
According to figures till 2018, India's male literacy rate stood at 82.4% and female literacy rate stood at 65.8%.
