INS Khukri decommissioned at Visakhapatnam

INS Khukri, the first indigenously built missile corvette, was decommissioned after 32 years of service at Visakhapatnam during a solemn ceremony.
The corvette was launched on August 23, 1989, by Mazagon Dock shipbuilders and served in the Western and Eastern Fleets.
The ship was commissioned in Mumbai by then-Defence Minister Krishna Chandra Pant and Sudha Mulla, wife of late Capt Mahendra Nath Mulla, MVC, with Commander (now Vice Admiral Retired) Sanjeev Bhasin serving as her first commanding officer.
The ship was associated with the Gorkha Brigade of the Indian Army, the ceremony was also attended by Lt Gen PN Ananthanarayan, SM and President of the Gorkha Brigade.
