Infantry Day/Infantry Day is celebrated every year on 27 October to commemorate the sacrifice of the infantry soldiers of the Indian Army.
After the merger of Jammu and Kashmir with the Indian Union, Pakistan tribals attacked with the help of the army there.
After the attack, on 27 October 1947, 1 Sikh Regiment was sent there for the operation on behalf of the Government of India.
Infantry soldiers of the Sikh Regiment reached the old airfield (Budgam) of Srinagar by Indian Dakota aircraft.
After this, by conducting an operation, the Indian Army soldiers forced the Pakistani tribals to retreat.
Eagle of Independence was the first military operation of the Indian Army.
The 77th Infantry Day is being celebrated in the year 2023.
The infantry of the Indian Army is called the 'Queen of War'.
