India plans to buy this massive $4 billion wall-like radar to neutralise Chinese threats from 6,000 km away

  • India and Russia are negotiating a $4 billion defence deal that plans to bring in Russia's Voronezh radar system that will modernise India's air defence system and enhance surveillance and threat detection capabilities in Asia and the Indian Ocean region.
  • The Voronezh radar system, developed by the Almaz-Antey Corporation, has the capability to detect and track objects such as ballistic missiles, fighter aircraft and intercontinental ICBMs at a total range of up to 10,000 km, a vertical range of 8,000 km and a horizontal range of 6,000 km.
