India observes 14th Organ Donation Day with Nationwide awareness programs

  • The 14th Indian Organ Donation Day was observed on 3 August 2024 with an awareness program organized by the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) in New Delhi, where Minister Anupriya Patel felicitated families who donated organs, recipients, and doctors.
  • The organ donation rate in India has increased fourfold to 18,378 in the last decade, as highlighted by Minister Anupriya Patel.
  • NITI Aayog Member Dr. V K Paul emphasized the need for increased awareness about organ donation and urged multi-specialty hospitals to provide organ transplantation facilities.
