India end Commonwealth Games 2022 campaign with 61 medals, finish fourth among 72 countries

  • India's campaign at Commonwealth Games 2022 ended with a heartbreaking 7-0 loss against six-time champions Australia. 
  • India ended the campaign with a silver medal, which took their overall medals tally to 61 - which includes 22 gold, 16 silver, 23 bronze.
  • At CWG 2022, India finished at fourth position, only behind Australia (178 medals), England (175 medals) and Canada (92 medals) who finished first second and third respectively.
  • Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu clinched India's first gold medal in Badminton which was also the first women's singles CWG gold medal of her career as she defeated Canada's Michelle Li 21-15, 21-13 in the final on Monday.
  • Sindhu had won a silver medal at 2018 Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal at 2014 Commonwealth Games.
