Gautam Adani becomes world’s third-richest person as wealth surges

  • It's the first time an Asian person has broken into the top three of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
  • With a $137.4 billion fortune, Mr Adani has overtaken Louis Vuitton chairman France's Bernard Arnault and now trails just Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos of the US in the ranking.
  • The group now owns India's largest private-sector port and airport operator, city-gas distributor and coal miner.
  • In the latest Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Reliance chief Mukesh Ambani is at number 11 with a total of USD 91.9 billion worth.
  • The first and second rankers of the index, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, currently have a net worth of US$251 billion and US$153 billion, respectively.
