First successful test-fire of missile 'Pralaya'

  • Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has successfully test-fired indigenously developed surface-to-surface missile 'Pralaya' from Odisha's test center Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island.
  • 'Pralay' is a semi-ballistic surface-to-surface missile. The indigenously developed missile has a range of 150 to 500 kilometres.
  • The payload capacity of the surface-to-surface missile is 500-1000 kg.
  • The DRDO-developed solid-fuel combat missile is based on the Indian ballistic missile program's "Prithvi Defense Vehicle."
  • On the same island off the coast of Odisha, another nuclear-capable ballistic missile, the Agni-P, was successfully tested on December 18.
