  • योजना आयोग के पूर्व सदस्य और ग्रामीण अर्थव्यवस्था पर देश के अग्रणी विशेषज्ञों में से एक अर्थशास्त्री अभिजीत सेन का सोमवार रात निधन हो गया है।
  • वह 72 वर्ष के थे।
  • प्रोफेसर अभिजीत सेन ने ऑक्सफोर्ड, कैम्ब्रिज और नई दिल्ली के जवाहरलाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय में अर्थशास्त्र पढ़ाया, और कृषि लागत और मूल्य आयोग के अध्यक्ष सहित कई महत्वपूर्ण सरकारी पदों पर रहे।
  • वह 2004 से 2014 तक योजना आयोग के सदस्य थे, जब मनमोहन सिंह प्रधान मंत्री थे।
