Cricket Australia renames Test Player of the Year award in honour of Shane Warne

  • Australia's men's Test Player of the Year award has been renamed to honour legendary spinner Shane Warne.
  • The Shane Warne Men's Test Player of the Year award will be presented annually at the Australian Cricket Awards.
  • This is the second cricket award after the prestigious Allan Border Medal which is given to the most outstanding player - male or female - across all the formats.
  • Warne, who claimed 1001 international wickets across Test and ODI formats, died at 52 in Match in Thailand.
  • Warne himself won the award once in 2006 for his record 40 wickets in 2005.
  • The winners of this Australian Cricket Awards will be announced on 30 January 2023.
