Centre implements 'One Nation One Fertiliser' plan under 'Bharat' brand

  • The Indian Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers decided to brand all fertilizers as "One nation, one fertilizer" under the scheme "Pradhanmantri Bhartiya Januvarak Pariyojna (PMBJP)."
  • The new scheme is aimed at bringing about uniformity in fertiliser brands across the country under the single brand name of ‘Bharat’.
  • A logo using PMBJP fertilizer scheme is to to be placed on the side of the fertilizer packs.
  • This came in with the aim to avoid malpractices in the agriculture sector.
  • The new provisions of PMBJP will come into effect from 2nd October 2022 onwards.
  • Fertiliser production companies are not allowed to procure old design bags from 15th Sept 2022 onwards and will have to exhaust all bags of old design by 12th December 2022.
