Central zone installs first-ever floating solar plant of Indian Railways

Central Railway has installed a pioneering 10 MWp floating solar plant in Igatpuri lake, located in the Western Ghats. This initiative marks Indian Railways' first-of-its-kind effort to harness renewable energy through innovative means.
The installation of solar plants, including the floating solar plant and rooftop installations across railway stations and buildings, underscores Central Railway's commitment to leveraging renewable energy sources. This move aligns with the railways' objective to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainability.
Central Railway aims to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2030. The commissioning of solar plants and other green initiatives are pivotal steps in this direction, contributing significantly to environmental conservation and sustainable development goals.
