Bangladesh wins the title of Women's SAFF Championship 2022

  • Abrace by Krishna Rani Sarkar and an early goal by Shamsunnahar jr helped Bangladesh clinch their maiden SAFF Women’s Championship title after they beat hosts Nepal 3-1 at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu.
  • Bangladesh skipper Sabina Khatun, who was the top scorer of the tournament netting eight goals in five games, dedicated the trophy to the people of Bangladesh.
  • This was the first victory for Bengal Tigresses against Nepal in their ninth attempt, with losing six and two draws.
  • Bangladesh team captain Sabina Khatun became the top scorer of the tournament with eight goals in the tournament.
  • Bangladesh had earlier made the final on one occasion in 2016, but eventually were beaten 3-1 by India in that final.
