Assam: Bodoland Territorial Council recognizes Bathoism as official option in applications

  • The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) of the Assam government has recognized Bathowad as an official option, which will be included in documents such as birth and death certificates and educational admissions. 
  • Bathowad is the traditional nature-worshipping belief of the Bodo community, based on the five elements, and the Sijou plant is considered a symbol of life and soul.
