World Sparrow Day is celebrated every year on March 20, initiated by the "Nature Forever" organization in 2010.
Its aim is to raise awareness about the declining sparrow population and to make efforts for their conservation.
Due to the declining number of sparrows – urbanization, excessive use of pesticides, destruction of natural habitats, and lack of food have led to a significant decrease in their numbers.
Campaigns such as "Save the Sparrow" are being run to save them, which also includes the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
