Every year on March 23, World Meteorological Day is commemorated.
The World Meteorological Organization has been commemorating World Meteorological Day since 1961, with a new topic chosen each year.
The theme of this year's World Meteorological Day is 'Early Warning and Early Action' and it emphasizes the critical need for hydro-meteorological and climate information for disaster risk reduction.
The day commemorates the founding of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), which now has 193 member countries and territories.
