September 18 is celebrated as World Bamboo Day, which was established by the World Bamboo Organization during the eighth World Bamboo Congress held in Bangkok in 2009.
The main purpose of celebrating this day is to spread awareness about the importance of bamboo and its environmental benefits, such as the use of bamboo helps in reducing climate change and land degradation.
