May 7th has been observed as World Athletics Day.
Athletics is a group of sporting events that include competition running, throwing, walking and jumping.
World Athletics Day was founded by Primo Nebiolo, the former President of the worldwide athletic federation IAAF, to educate and promote athletics among youth as a primary sport.
World Athletics Day, celebrated on May 7, was established by the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF).
The International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) established World Athletics Day in 1996 to raise awareness about the physiological and psychological importance of sports.
On July 17, 1912, the IAAF was established in Stockholm, Sweden.
