  • World Athletics Day, celebrated on May 7, was established by the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF).
  • The International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) established World Athletics Day in 1996 to raise awareness about the physiological and psychological importance of sports.
  • On July 17, 1912, the IAAF was established in Stockholm, Sweden.
