  • India will be the third country in the world after Bolivia and Mexico City, to have a ropeway for public transportation, which will be located in Varanasi.
  • The aerial ropeway service in Varanasi will cover a distance of 4.2 kilometres.
  • Varanasi, also known as the Gateway to Eastern India, will cover the Rs 424 crore pilot project for the ropeway service.
  • The ropeway service is expected to be available at night.
