  • The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday announced the formation of the state's first three all-woman battalions of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). 
  • The aim is to entrust the responsibility of security of the state with women.
  • The battalion has been named after Veer Naris. Under the programme, 20 percent of the police force of the state was reserved for the appointment of women, so that women could be made self-reliant along with giving security.
