Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated the Janrakshak projects under Dial 112 in Ahmedabad, highlighting them as a historic step towards smart policing and citizen safety. The initiative is a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for integrated emergency response which merges multiple helpline services into a single number, 112, ensuring quicker assistance in cases of police, fire, ambulance, women, child, and disaster-related emergencies. A fleet of 1,000 GPS-enabled Janrakshak PCR vans has been deployed, supported by a 24x7 State Emergency Response Centre in Ahmedabad.
