In a groundbreaking announcement, the United Kingdom has named Jane Marriott as the next British High Commissioner to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
This historic appointment signifies a significant step forward, as Jane becomes the first female British High Commissioner to Pakistan.
Previously, British Ambassador Christian Turner was designated in Pakistan; he has transferred to another Diplomatic Service appointment.
Previously, Jane Marriott served as the High Commissioner to Kenya, undertaking her responsibilities from September 2019 to June 2023.
Jane has served as Deputy and Acting Ambassador to Tehran and provided invaluable advice to Richard Holbrooke, the US Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
