Tirumala Hills in Andhra Pradesh and Erramatti Dibbalu in Visakhapatnam have been included in UNESCO’s tentative list of World Heritage Sites. Tirumala Hills feature a rare geological boundary between ancient Precambrian rocks and younger rock formations, along with the 1.5-billion-year-old Silathoranam, a natural rock arch known for its unique shape and religious significance. Erramatti Dibbalu, spread over approximately 1,500 acres, are famous for their red sand hills dating back to the Quaternary period, holding significant geological and natural importance. Inclusion in UNESCO’s tentative list highlights the global significance of these sites and strengthens their prospects for preservation.
