On August 5, 2019, Parliament abolished the effect of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.
Along with this, the state was divided into two parts, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, and both were made union territories.
Along with this, the Supreme Court decided that elections should be held in Jammu and Kashmir by September 30, 2023.
