  • In a significant effort to empower rural women and youth, the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) has signed a Statement of Intent (SOI) with UNICEF Yuwa to create livelihood opportunities in rural India and enhance the participation of the female workforce. 
  • The three-year partnership aims to connect women from self-help groups (SHGs) with employment, entrepreneurship, and skill development programs.
  • Under this initiative, digital infrastructure will be strengthened through pilot projects such as "Computer Didi Centers" and "Didi Ki Dukan" to be established in five blocks of Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Rajasthan. 
  • If this model is successful, 3.5 million women across more than 7,000 blocks in the country can be benefited.
