  • Sumit Seth, an Indian Foreign Service officer of the 2005 batch, has been appointed as India's next ambassador to Panama.
  • Sumit Seth is presently posted as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs.
  • Earlier, he served as Deputy Chief of Mission in Yangon, Myanmar. He was also posted at India’s Missions in Madrid, Bogota, and UN Geneva. 
  • Before joining the diplomatic career, he worked as a medical doctor and specialised in Forensic Medicine and Medical Jurisprudence.
