  • Badminton women’s singles world number two An Se-young smashed home victory at the final of the Thailand Open in Bangkok overcoming China’s He Bingjiao.
  • This was Young’s seventh final berth in a row.
  • In Men’s singles, the Thai shuttler Kunlavut Vitidsarn secured the Thailand Open title for the first time in his career today, becoming the only men's singles player in the badminton World Tour to have won more than one tournament this year.
  • He defeated Lee Cheuk Yiu of Hong Kong in straight sets, 21-12, 21-10 in the final.
  • India has had four different winners in the competition’s history. 
  • Saina Nehwal won the women’s singles title in 2012, Kidambi Srikanth and B Sai Praneeth won the men’s singles titles in 2013 and 2017, respectively, and the men’s doubles pairing of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won the title in 2019.
