Shehbaz Sharif, Nawaz Sharif's brother, was elected Prime Minister of Pakistan with 201 votes.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will lead the coalition government with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Despite independent candidates backed by Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) winning the most seats, the PML-N and PPP formed the government.
Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz was sworn in as the first woman Chief Minister of Punjab province.
