  • G. Rajkumar, a former bank employee who became a leading environmental activist and spearheaded the Save Kurinji Campaign, died in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday at the age of 70.
  • Popularly known as “Kurinji Rajkumar,” he played a crucial role in raising awareness about conserving the Neelakurinji flower, which blooms once every 12 years.
  • His efforts bore fruit in October 2006 when the Kerala government established a Neelakurinji sanctuary in Idukki district.
