  • Russia has announced that it plans to launch a lunar lander in the second week of August after several delays, hoping to return to the moon for the first time in more than 50 years.
  • Russia's space agency Roscosmos has said that the luna-25 lander will be launched in the early hours of Friday.
  • The launch is the first mission of Moscow's new lunar program, and comes at a time when President Vladimir Putin wants to boost space cooperation with China after relations with the West deteriorated following the start of Moscow's offensive in Ukraine last year.
