China has announced the establishment of the world's first fourth-generation nuclear reactor in December 2023.
Its name is 'Shidao Bay' Nuclear Power Plant.
It is located in eastern Shandong province of China.
This marks the beginning of the era of next-generation gas-cooled nuclear reactors.
The Shidao Bay plant distinguishes itself by using two high-temperature reactors cooled by gas, which is different from conventional pressurized water cooling systems.
The construction of this nuclear plant started in the year 2012.
