Tejas is a light combat aircraft indigenously manufactured in the country.
It is manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become the first Prime Minister to fly in Tejas aircraft.
The Prime Minister took off in this aircraft from Bengaluru Air Force Airport.
Currently, the Indian Air Force operates two squadrons of Tejas aircraft – 'Flying Daggers' and 'Flying Bullets'.
Tejas was earlier known as LCA.
In the year 2003, the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had named LCA as 'Tejas'.
