Papua New Guinea is an island country located in the Pacific Ocean.
Recently there has been a massive volcanic eruption in Papua New Guinea.
This explosion took place in a large volcano named Mount Ulawun.
The Government of India has given financial assistance of 1 million dollars to Papua New Guinea to deal with this crisis.
This assistance has been given under the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC).
Disaster risk reduction and management is a key pillar of India's Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November 2019.
