S. Venkatramanan was the former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.
He passed away recently.
S. Venkatramanan was the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India from 1990 to 1992.
He was the 18th Governor of RBI.
Before being appointed Governor, he was the Union Finance Secretary.
During Venkatramanan's tenure, India also adopted the stability policy of the International Monetary Fund. Which also included the devaluation of the currency and the beginning of the economic reform plan.
When the policy of liberalization, privatization and globalization was adopted in India, Venkatramanan was the Governor of RBI.
