Dr. V. Mohini Giri was the former chairperson of the National Commission for Women.
He passed away recently.
He is the former President of the country Dr. V.V. Giri's daughter-in-law was also there.
Dr. Mohini founded the Guild of Service in the year 1979, dedicated to empowering women, underprivileged children, and war widows.
She was the Chairperson of the National Commission for Women from 1995 to 1998.
Dr. Giri also served as the Chairman of the Central Social Welfare Board.
Dr. Mohini Giri was honored for her work in 2007 by the then President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was awarded the Padma Bhushan.
Dr. Mohini was also a founding trustee of the Women's Initiative for Peace in South Asia.
