  • Chennai Grand Masters was held in Chennai in December 2023.
  • It was a chess championship.
  • This championship was won by Indian Grand Master D. Gukesh.
  • In the final, D. Gukesh defeated compatriot Pantala Harikrishna.
  • Gukesh won the title by scoring 4.5 points in the final round after playing a draw with compatriot Pantala Harikrishna.
  • However, in the final round, India's Grand Master Arjun Erigasi also showed a brilliant game and scored 4.5 points by defeating Hungary's Sanan Szgirov, but Gukesh won the title on the basis of better tiebreak.
  • Whereas Harikrishna stood third in the competition by scoring 4 points.
  • The Chennai Grand Masters is an eight-player chess tournament.
  • It is held mainly to qualify for the next World Chess Championship.
