  • Recently the Coast Guard Commanders' Conference is being held in New Delhi.
  • This is the 40th edition of the Coast Guard Commanders' Conference.
  • This conference was inaugurated by Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
  • The agenda of the conference includes enhancing maritime safety and security such as search and rescue operations, marine pollution response, operations against interdiction and drug trafficking.
  • This also includes ensuring safety of fishermen/sailors at sea, maximizing coastal security measures, strengthening inter-agency coordination and promoting awareness about the maritime domain.
  • This conference is held annually in which all the officials put forward the roadmap for the future and discuss about various policy and strategic issues.
  • Its objective is to create a futuristic vision for the service and brainstorm ways to efficiently address the challenges.
