  • The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has approved the caste-based survey in the state in November, 2023.
  • Chief Minister Y.S. The state cabinet chaired by Jagan Mohan Reddy approved the comprehensive caste-based survey.
  • The objective of this survey is to collect primary information on economic, social, educational, livelihood and population data with special focus on marginalized sections.
  • The survey will help in creating a database of weaker sections in the society, so that the government can expand its welfare schemes and other economic benefits.
  • Bihar is the first state in the country to conduct caste census in the state.
