The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the appointment of Alok Sharma as the new SPG chief.
Alok Sharma is currently SPG. Working as Additional Director General.
S.P.G. It was established in 1988 by an Act of the Parliament of India.
Former Prime Ministers also used to get SPG protection earlier.
According to the new provision, they are now given Z Plus security.
