The scientific name of 'Goral' is Nemorhadus.
Recently, a mammal named 'Goral' found in the Himalayan region has been seen in Valmiki Tiger Reserve.
It is a bovid species native to the Himalayas.
Its appearance is like that of a goat and antelope.
This species is found in the Himalayas in Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, southern Tibet and Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh in India.
It has been included in the IUCN Red List.
Apart from this, it is also listed in Schedule 3 of the Indian Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
Its population is declining significantly in India due to habitat loss and hunting.
Valmiki Tiger Reserve is the only tiger reserve in Bihar located in the north-western part of West Champaran district of Bihar, bordering Nepal.
