  • December 2023 marks 50 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between India and South Korea.
  • On this occasion, the Indian Prime Minister congratulated South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol.
  • Diplomatic relations were formally established between the two countries in the year 1973.
  • The two countries formed a 'strategic partnership' in 2010.
  • This partnership was upgraded to a 'Special Strategic Partnership' during the state visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Seoul in 2015.
  • Trade between the two countries has increased significantly.
  • It increased from $530 million during the 1992–1993 fiscal year to billion dollars during 2006–2007.
