To address tightening liquidity conditions, the Reserve Bank of India on 5 December 2025 announced Open Market Operation (OMO) purchases of government securities worth ₹1,00,000 crore, along with a 3-year USD/INR buy-sell swap of $5 billion to inject durable liquidity. It later scheduled an OMO purchase of ₹50,000 crore for 11 December, with the remaining ₹50,000 crore to be carried out later in the month. RBI clarified that the dollar-rupee swap is purely a liquidity measure, not an attempt to support the currency.
