Goa is hosting the fourth edition of the World Ocean Science Congress 2026 at the National Institute of Oceanography in Panaji, focusing on ocean health, climate resilience and the blue economy. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant highlighted Goa’s maritime legacy and the ocean’s role in livelihoods and climate systems.
The congress is co-organised by National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research and Goa University, with previous editions held in Visakhapatnam, Kochi and Chennai.
Discussions cover ocean observation systems, AI applications, marine biotechnology and sustainable blue economy pathways. The event also includes sessions for fishermen and students, aiming to connect scientific research with coastal communities and policy action.
