· To ensure that breast milk is given to newborn babies within the first hour of life, the Ludhiana district administration has set up a breast milk pump bank on the premises of the Mother and Child Hospitals here to ensure that infants get the necessary nutrients.
· With the launch of Pump Bank, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Amit Kumar Panchal, Assistant Commissioner (UT) Dr Harjinder Singh Bedi and MC Councilor Mamta Ashu have said that the health professional will collect and provide breast milk immediately after the birth of the child.
· A container for storing breast milk was also installed, two electric pumps were added, and the government handed over 10 manual pumps, 16 containers and 1 sterilizer to the bank.
