The Punjab government has formally declared Amritsar, Sri Anandpur Sahib, and Talwandi Sabo (Sri Damdama Sahib) as Holy Cities to preserve their religious sanctity and cultural heritage. The notification, approved by the Governor and issued by the Department of Home Affairs, enforces restrictions on liquor, tobacco, intoxicants, and meat. Local administrations will oversee compliance, ensuring public conduct aligns with Sikh religious ethos. The move also complements heritage development plans for these sacred sites.
