Meta Acquires AI Social Platform Moltbook

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has acquired Moltbook, an experimental AI social networking platform where AI bots interact with each other. Moltbook, launched in January 2026, gained attention when OpenAI CEO Sam Altman joked about it publicly.
Co-founders Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr will join Meta Superintelligence Labs, led by former Scale AI CEO Alexandr Wang. The acquisition reflects the global AI talent race. However, Moltbook also faced a cybersecurity vulnerability that exposed user credentials, which was later resolved.
