The Pullumpara village panchayat in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala achieved the distinction of becoming the first totally digitally literate panchayat in the country.
The announcement was made by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan at a public event held on September 21.
Full digital literacy was gained by Pullampara panchayat’s ‘DigiPullampara’ project, under which some 3,300 residents between the 14-65 age group were provided digital education.
800-odd government services have been made available by the state government online and the digitally literate population can make maximum use of them.
The ‘Digi Pullampara’ project was launched on August 15, 2021 to impart digital education to the most underprivileged sections of society in the panchayat.
