  • The Pullumpara village panchayat in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala achieved the distinction of becoming the first totally digitally literate panchayat in the country. 
  • The announcement was made by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan at a public event held on September 21.
  • Full digital literacy was gained by Pullampara panchayat’s ‘DigiPullampara’ project, under which some 3,300 residents between the 14-65 age group were provided digital education. 
  • 800-odd government services have been made available by the state government online and the digitally literate population can make maximum use of them.
  • The ‘Digi Pullampara’ project was launched on August 15, 2021 to impart digital education to the most underprivileged sections of society in the panchayat.
